Derek Jensen
25 years of pouring, stamping, and finishing decorative concrete across the Twin Cities. Owner on every job site — no subcontractors, no shortcuts, no delegation of the work that matters most.
From a Pickup Truck to 25 Years of Expert Craftsmanship
Back in October 2014, Derek Jensen started pouring concrete with a pickup truck and a strong back. Eleven years later, the jobs are bigger, the patterns are more complex, and the crew has grown — but the approach hasn't changed.
Derek still runs every pour himself because that's the only way to guarantee the finished product matches the estimate. He's on site from the first shovel of subgrade prep to the final coat of sealer. That's how quality stays consistent across over 25 years of work.
Hiring a contractor and hoping the owner shows up is a gamble most homeowners have lost before. Derek Jensen is on every job site — not occasionally, not for the walkthrough, but for the full pour. That direct oversight is why problems get solved in the moment, not discovered after the crew leaves.

What Sets Derek Apart
Pattern alignment, color matching, and stamp timing are skills that only come from repetition — and 25 years of focused decorative work.
25+ Years of Experience
Since October 2014, Derek has been pouring, stamping, and finishing decorative concrete across the Twin Cities Metro.
75% Decorative Specialty
Three out of every four projects are decorative — stamped, colored, and patterned concrete. That focus builds expertise most contractors never develop.
5-Person Crew
A tight crew that has worked together on hundreds of pours. Stable teams build better concrete — no rotating subcontractors.
Based in Cologne, MN
Most projects are within an hour's drive — Minnetonka, Excelsior, Waconia, Eden Prairie, and the surrounding communities.

Built for Minnesota Conditions
Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles are the biggest challenge for any concrete surface. Derek specs every pour for Minnesota conditions, not generic warm-climate standards — from air-entrained mixes to proper subgrade compaction on clay-heavy soils.

Your Neighbors Building Your Patio
Jensen Decorative Concrete is based in Cologne, right in Carver County. This isn't a company that parachutes in from out of the area — these are your neighbors.
Family Business
Derek's daughter Mckayla runs the office and handles scheduling. When you call, you're talking to the family behind the business — not a call center.
Quality Over Volume
A 5-person crew can only take on so many projects at a time. That's intentional. Each project gets full attention, start to finish, with no rushing.
